Shakti Flows – Honoring the Feminine

Join Yoga Instructors Cathy Valentine and Alessandra Poroj for their inspired series that honors the power and grace of women. Offered by the WOWD Center for Wellness, choose any or all sessions of this four part series “Shakti Flows – Honoring the Feminine”. During different phases of their lives, women are the nurturers, creators and sustainers. These varied roles can sometimes create unwanted stress, both physically and mentally. If you need to recharge, relax, detox or gain a sense of equanimity, this series is intended to support women in establishing and/or maintaining balance and harmony. A perfect series to honor the upcoming Spring season!

Part 1: Give Permission and Create

Sunday, February 3, 1:30 – 3:00 pm

A big part of the creative process within starts with the energy of allowing and grounding. In this grounding practice, space will be made for the body, heart and mind to allow the creative process to unfold. This practice will open the hips to create space, twist the center to cleanse and open the chest and shoulders to receive. You’ll learn about your creative energy center (4th chakra) in the pelvis, creating space for anything you desire to manifest in your life!

Part 2: Moon Salutations—Awakening the Feminine Energy

Sunday, February 17, 1:30 – 3:00 pm

This flow will assist you in arousing the feminine energy of creativity, intuition and nurturing with slower, cooling and soothing movements and postures. Find balance, space and room to allow the feminine to blossom as we practice moon salutes.

Part 3: Detox Flow for Spring Renewal

This flow will assist you in releasing the winter heaviness that no longer serves you as we head into spring. Create space in your mind, body and spirit to receive spring revival.

Part 4: Honoring Transitions

Sunday, March 17, 1:30 – 3:00 pm

This final class will help women to find acceptance and respect for the many transitions in life. This mindful practice will offer postures and a simple flow to address some of the common symptoms caused by the reproductive system spanning from PMS, to perimenopause to menopause: anxiety, hot flashes, bloating, irritability, mood swings and fatigue. You will learn about Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda (holistic healing), and how simple self-healing techniques can be applied. Take a deep breath and offer yourself some kindness!
